Retractable Awnings

Retractable awnings are popular due to their versatility, particularly over patios.  Provide shade or rain protection when needed, then roll back to enjoy a clear evening sky.  There are two types of retractable awnings; lateral arm and drop arm.

Lateral Arm Awnings

Lateral arm awnings, such as the popular Sunsetter brand, provide maximum extension without side obstructions.  The lateral arm awning is a shade control awning and is not used for rain protection. In addition, this awning should be withdrawn in heavy winds. This awning comes either manually operated by a detachable winding brace or motorized with a Somfy motor. Motorized options include hand-held wireless remote control, wind sensor or combination sun and wind sensor to provide shade protection automatically.

Drop Arm Awnings

Drop arm awnings generally span smaller areas and are supported by support arms that extend horizontally out from the building.  They are often used over windows where there is no foot traffic beneath it such as upstairs windows or windows where there is landscaping underneath.

This awning comes in widths up to 12' with arm sizes from 2' to 3'4". The awning frame includes it's own box and is operated by an interior or exterior tape pull mechanism.
